Deputy Minister of Social Policy discussed humanitarian cooperation in the South

On Friday, November 28, the Charitable organization “Charitable Foundation SHCHEDRIK” received a distinguished guest, Tetyana Kirienko, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine. The visit was held to familiarize with the current challenges and needs of the affected population, whom the foundation helps with the support of partners

Discussion of activities and challenges

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister was given a tour of the fund, followed by a broad discussion:

  • Activities and project activities, in particular, to support communities in Southern Ukraine affected by the war.
  • Establishing and deepening cooperation between the fund, the state and international organizations.
  • It was noted that activities in the Kherson region are a vivid example of successful cooperation with the Shchedryk Foundation and the Kherson administration.


The meeting was attended by important partners, including: the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the head of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, the head of the Lazurna Military Administration, representatives of the coordination center “Free Together” for IDPs from the Kherson region, as well as UNHCR (for refugees) and representatives of the Red Cross.

Shared priorities and coordination

The main topic of the talks was the issue of the humanitarian sector and how the state can be useful in joint assistance.

“We need to invest in and support people. Their integration into communities is our shared priority,” said the fund’s co-founder, Oleksandr Mosin.

Participants discussed coordination mechanisms and tools used in practice in the humanitarian sector, including:

The Coordination Working Group, humanitarian coordination meetings held monthly in Mykolaiv with the participation of local authorities and humanitarian partners to address common problems and challenges.

Particular attention was paid to the most complex aspects of humanitarian assistance:

  • Providing assistance in occupied and de-occupied territories, where shelling is still ongoing, to people who cannot or do not want to leave.
  • Psychological and physical aspects of evacuation, because leaving everything and moving is a difficult challenge, which is why many change their minds during the process itself.
  • Improving conditions in collective places of residence of IDPs.

The meeting demonstrated the common desire of all participants for close coordination and cooperation to provide the most effective assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war.
